Welcome to our life! We thought it was ordinary...more or less...but chaos has a way of catching up. Now we're trying to plan our wedding, fix up our new house and try to figure out our lives together.

So Long VW Golf

Lisa finally convinced me to get rid of my VW Golf. Okay, so the Golf itself convinced me to get rid of it. When the air conditioning pump and the alternator tried to shake themself off, I decided that I was sick of keeping that dying old girl on life support so I sent it to a rest home. Actually, I gave it to my friend Lee who intends to put it back on the road just to taunt me with it. Anyway, Lisa will no longer have to be ashamed as she is driven around in the rusty old VW Golf. I'll be replacing it with a 2000 Toyota Tacoma, which should be a vehicle through which I do projects, rather than a project vehicle.

The cake

So Pete and I were looking through an email I got from this great wedding planning website (www.theknot.com) and it had all these pictures of cakes. Well, you wouldn't think a guy would care much about the cake, but Pete found one he HAD to have, so suddenly we have a very fun cake design that's rapidly becoming the focal point of our design plan. Here's the picture we saw. We're going to be making changes of course (specifically the colors), but we like the shape and the icing designs.

Reception Halls - Day 2

So Saturday Mom and I went to check out my favorite reception hall. She liked it as much as I do, but she's concerned about the location - it's a bit over an hour from her house. At any rate, she approves, so Pete and I are pretty sure we're going to book it once the date is finalized. We have decided that having Danielle, Travis, Aunt Marilyn and Uncle Lyndon there is far more important to us than any particular reception hall, so we're not going to book it until Danielle's schedule is confirmed. It's looking like July 14, 2007 is the way we're leaning, but we want to be sure. I made sure Mom brought her camera since the battery on ours seems to have decided that it can only hold a charge long enough for about 5 pictures. Amusingly enough, it seems Mom & Dad's camera has decided the same thing, but we got a couple in before it died. The pictures will be a bit out of date, since we were told the hall will be getting a major renovation next January and February, but it gives a pretty good idea anyway. We hope everyone likes it, but please let us know what you think!

The gazebo - there will be lots of flowers and chairs in the summer!

Snow pictures

Lisa's snow angel

Pete shows off his skis...oh wait, those are snowshoes, they're just HUGE!!

Pete's snow angel

Pete trying to get up from the above snow angel - no laughing until you try it, it's not at all easy!!

Lisa's new snowshoes - spiffy, huh?

Snow fun!

So it finally snowed in CT!! We're estimating that we got around 2 feet of snow today, and Pete and I decided to take full advantage and test out our new snowshoes. We eagerly sat inside all morning watching the snow come down until just before noon when we couldn't wait anymore. We got all our gear on, strapped on the new snowshoes (after removing the tags) and headed off to the bike path that's about 2 blocks from our house. Once we arrived at the path we found out, to our dismay, that the stupid town we live in PLOWED the bike path. We hung in there though and braved the powder on the sides of the trail - talk about a workout! Anyway, once we got home we played around in the backyard a bit enjoying the snowshoes, the snow itself, and one another's company.
